Sanchez, 2002] This article recommends: (1) the implementation of development projects to scale-up fertility replenishment practices from tens of thousands to tens of millions African farm families; (2) development projects should focus on key bottlenecks such as the supply of quality tree germplasm grown by community-base d nurseries, and access to rock phosphate, and knowledge of the three technology components; and (3) develop policies that reduce the disparity between world market and local prices for mineral fertilizers.
